And How Slingshot Keeps Your Systems Secure, Stable, and Up-to-Date

Every second Tuesday of the month, Microsoft releases critical updates in what the IT world calls Patch Tuesday.
For most businesses, it’s just another calendar event. But these updates are vital behind the scenes in keeping your business protected from cyber threats, system crashes, and compliance violations.
At Slingshot Information Systems, we take Patch Tuesday seriously—because threat actors do too.
🚨 June 2025: A Wake-Up Call for Patch Neglect
This month’s Microsoft Patch Tuesday included 67 new security updates, including:
CVE-2025-33053 – a zero-day vulnerability in WebDAV that allows remote code execution. While WebDAV is deprecated and not on by default, legacy or specialty systems may still have it enabled—and attackers are actively exploiting it.
CVE-2025-33073 – a critical vulnerability in the SMB protocol, rated 8.8 out of 10 in severity. This one lets attackers gain full SYSTEM-level access without user interaction—making it especially dangerous in file-sharing environments.
Multiple vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office, including several that can be triggered by simply previewing a malicious document. No file opening required.
Add to that Adobe's 259 security fixes and Google Chrome’s two zero-days, and it’s clear: patching isn’t optional—it’s survival.
What Is Patch Management?
Patch management is the process of identifying, testing, deploying, and verifying updates across your IT environment. These updates can:
Fix security holes
Prevent software crashes
Improve system performance
Ensure regulatory compliance
Introduce new features
Failing to patch systems opens the door to ransomware, data breaches, downtime, and more. This is why Patch Management matters more than ever.
🔧 How Slingshot Makes Patching Easy (and Reliable)
Manually keeping up with updates for Windows, Office, third-party apps, and specialized tools is time-consuming and risky.
That’s why we use an industry-leading Remote Monitoring & Management (RMM) — that allows us to:

✅ Automatically patch Windows, macOS, and 3rd-party applications (over 200 titles supported)
✅ Test and validate updates before mass deployment
✅ Identify failed or missing patches in real time
✅ Enforce patching policies based on system role and business hours
✅ Generate compliance reports for audits and regulatory needs
We proactively manage patching across hundreds of endpoints, so you don’t have to worry about what got missed.
Why It Matters for Your Business
Whether you run a law firm, a veterinary clinic, or a multi-site construction company, your systems are the backbone of your operations. Unpatched software can lead to:
🔓 Unauthorized access to sensitive client data
🛑 Costly downtime due to crashes or malware
📉 Loss of trust from clients or partners
📋 Fines for compliance failures
Staying patched means staying resilient, compliant, and competitive.
